I'm a Ph.D Candidate in Hispanic Languages and Literatures in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UCLA. My research interests lie in the connection between trauma, memory creation, collective memory and community, and state sponsored propaganda of armed conflicts in literature and culture production. I am especially interested in rural narratives, storytelling, and perspectives of armed conflict in Western Mexico of the 20th century and its impact in the creation of regional self-identification.
Soy un candidato de doctorado en letras hispánicas en el Departamento de Español y Portugués de UCLA. Mi investigación se centra en la conexión entre el trauma, creación de memorias, memoria colectiva y comunidad y propaganda estatal de conflictos armados en la literatura y producción cultural. Estoy especialmente interesado en narrativas rurales, cuentos folclóricos y la perspectiva de conflicto armado en el occidente de México durante el siglo XX y su impacto en la creación de identidad regional occidental.
